JLR sales fall 3.4pc in November

Jaguar Land Rover sales last month were down 3.4 per cent on the year at 46,542 vehicles.

Sales of the Range Rover Evoque rose by 25.2 per cent in November

Sales continued to improve in China – up 29 per cent year-on-year – marking the fifth consecutive month of double-digit growth in the region.

North America also grew by 4.9 per cent to record November sales levels.

Sales were down 10.8 per cent in the UK with Europe falling 16.8 per cent.

The new Range Rover Evoque sales were up 25.2 per cent and the Land Rover Discovery by15.5 per cent.

Total Land Rover retail sales in November were 35,078 - up 5.5 per cent year-on-year with Jaguar down 23.1 per cent at 11,464.

JLR chief commercial officer Felix Brautigam said: "Against the backdrop of a downturn in the global automotive market, we were pleased to see our sales grow in the US and China. Despite the ongoing headwinds in China, we continue to see green shoots of recovery in our sales there. The intensive work with our retailers in the region, combined with significant process and product improvements are starting to gain traction."

JLR, which has its engine manufacturing centre at the i54 north of Wolverhampton, had seen sales from April to October fall by 5.9 per cent to 345,976 against the same period in 2018.
