Barbers offering free haircuts to help those in need
A hairdressers has started a project to help less fortunate members of the community by offering free trims.
RNL Gentlemen's Barbers, based in Wallows Road, Brierley Hill, is offering a free haircut to people who are need of extra help through a voucher scheme.
The vouchers are being given by the barbers to a number of groups around the Brierley Hill area, including the Black Country Food Bank and the Black Country Women's Refuge.
Around 250 vouchers will be handed out and give the holder the chance to have a free haircut at the barbers.
Owner of RNL Gentlemen's Barbers, Ben Taylor, said he had done a number of projects in the past to help people in need.
He said: "I've done a number of haircuts in the past, helping school children to get their haircut before returning to school as an example.
"I've also worked with Kevin Dillon at Lions Boxing Club to do fundraising projects, including some collections."
Ben said he had wanted to help people in need who didn't have much and came up with the voucher scheme as a new idea.
He said: "I know that for some people, it can be a pride thing to not want to ask for something for nothing, so the vouchers will encourage them to get a free haircut.
"I guess we're just trying to do our bit and help out people down on their luck. Everyone needs to be fresh and tidied up for Christmas, so we look forward to getting the people through the door who need the most help."
