Village green to be surrounded by more than 160 new homes
More than 160 new homes surrounding a "village green" are set to rise after plans were given the green light.
Developers are expected to start work building the collection of homes in South Staffordshire towards the end of this year.
It comes as planning chiefs at South Staffordshire Council approved plans from Bloor Homes to develop the site off Pendeford Mill Lane, in Bilbrook.
Paul Degg, regional managing director of Bloor Homes Midlands, said: “Our vision for Bilbrook is to create an attractive and high-quality new neighbourhood, offering a diverse range of housing for the local market.
“Careful consideration has been given to the scale, density, form and layout of the development to ensure it fully respects the character and appearance of the surrounding area."
The site, which is allocated for housing development by the council, will boast a total of 164 new homes when work is completed.
A village green will be central to the development, which will see 40 per cent of the homes offered as affordable housing for rent or shared ownership.
It will feature trees, paths and bench seating, as well as a children's play space.
A variety of houses will be on offer for potential residents, with a mix of detached, semi-detached and terraced houses, as well as bungalows with private gardens and parking.
Mr Degg added: “The development will see the construction of a mix of one, two, three and four-bedroom homes, including 12 bungalows.
“The emphasis here on smaller properties will assist first-time buyers and those looking to downsize to Bilbrook, and the provision of some single storey homes reflects the needs of the ageing population.”
“We anticipate work on site will commence towards the end of the year.”
Access to the site will be via a junction with Pendeford Mill Lane, where a toucan crossing will be built to provide safe access for residents to the existing footway and cycle paths.
Bloor Homes will pay approximately £265,000 to fun extra school places across the area as part of a Section 106 agreement with the council.
