Philip Mancini, multiple time National Ice Cream Champion, has unveiled the new ice cream in support of the LGBTQ+ community.

Developed by Mr Mancini on behalf of the Ice Cream Alliance, the colourful new ice cream is produced using a traditional Italian method and consists of six different flavours – strawberry, orange, pineapple, mint, bubblegum and forest berries.

The flavours are layered to resemble the distinctive colours of the rainbow flag.

To further support UK Pride, a percentage of the profits from each sale of the new ice cream will be donated to LGBTQ+ rights charity Stonewall.

Mr Mancini, from Ayr in Scotland, has claimed the coveted National Ice Cream champion title in the Ice Cream Alliance's National Ice Cream Competition a remarkable three times over the past decade, and now serves as the organisation's Vice President.

He is the third generation of his family to work as an ice cream maker and has recently switched his focus away from a traditional parlour and into the growing market of ice cream at weddings.

Selling from a traditional ice cream cart and trike, he already has a packed order book running into 2020.

The Ice Cream Alliance is a trade organisation that represents manufacturers and retailers across the £1 billion UK ice cream industry.

Mr Mancini said: "I was delighted to be asked by the Ice Cream Alliance to produce this very special new ice cream to showcase our support for LGBTQ+ culture.

"I have produced all manner of ice cream types and flavours over the years but I think rainbow-coloured is definitely a first.

"We put a lot of work into selecting the flavours and ingredients to ensure that we had a quality end product that really looks the part."

Zelica Carr, CEO of the Ice Cream Alliance, added: " The Ice Cream Alliance are supporters of the LGBTQ+ community and Pride events across the UK. We wanted to come up with something a bit special to really showcase that support, and Philip was kind enough to lend us his award-winning talents for the occasion."
