The show tells the tale of two star-crossed lovers who find hope in an all-consuming love amidst warring families.

Changes to the staging of Stafford Castle’s annual Shakespeare show sparked concerns that the sense of occasion was lost.

While the actors and staff were praised for their efforts changes to the site layout, including placing toilets closer to the performance area and differences in the seating layout, were given the thumbs down by some members of a Stafford Borough Council scrutiny committee.

Romeo and Juliet comes to Stafford Castle from June 25 to July 11.
