Blackadder writer Ben Elton performing in Stafford

A award-winning comedy star who was one of the writers of Blackadder will be performing in Stafford next week.

Comedian Ben Elton will be appearing at the Gatehouse Theatre on September 23, on the final date of his 'Work in Progress' tour before his main UK-wide tour kicks off on September 27.

More than 30 years ago, Ben Elton launched his career hosting Channel 4’s Saturday Live.

Now, after a 15 year absence, the Godfather of modern stand-up returns with an all new show.

As part of the show, Ben promises to try and make sense of a world which appears to have gone stark raving mad.

Ben said: "The last time I toured I was still smarter than my phone. Things have definitely taken a funny turn."

Ben Elton is a multi-award winning novelist, playwright, television writer, screen writer and lyricist.

He is also a theatre, screen and TV Director, a stand-up comedian and an occasional actor.

He read drama at Manchester University and is now married and has three children.

The 66-date tour kicks off in Dublin on 27 September and then travels across the UK culminating in Stevenage on 20 December.

Ben Elton will be at the Gatehouse Theatre from 7.30pm. Tickets are on sale now at £23.50 each.
