Joseph Davis, 10, from Hednesford, has performed at the last two ‘Open Mic’ events at The Arcade pub in Mill Street and has received lots of praise from staff and guests for his talent and enthusiasm.

A live Facebook video of his performance was viewed by more than 1,000 people in the 48 hours following the event on Sunday, and he’s hoping that these are just early steps in a musical career.

Luther Mattock, general manager of The Arcade said: “Joseph performed a faultless version of Proud Mary on Sunday. This young man has the world as his oyster.

"We are really happy to be able to help Joseph find his feet with performing live. It’s great so many people are getting to witness his talent!”

Joseph has been spurred on to perform by his guitar teacher, Jack Edwards, from the local band Piston.

Jack said: “It’s a pleasure teaching Joseph. He works really hard and is naturally musical. When he started talking to me about playing live I advised him to get out and play to as many people as possible to gain confidence and hone his skills.”

Joseph said: “As a 10 year old, it’s always nerve wracking to get up and sing, especially in front of grown ups.

"I love having lessons with Jack. Having a rock star as a guitar teacher really inspires me to want to be a musician.”

Video’s of Joseph’s performance can be found on his Youtube and Facebook channels – called Telecastervision. Details of future Open Mic events at The Arcade, Cannock, can be found on Facebook.
