Pupils at St Dominic’s Grammar School, Brewood, performed the concert for a large audience which included parents and other guests.

Noreen Perks, head of music, said: “To celebrate the New Year, visiting music staff held the well-attended concert in the school’s Peakman Hall.

“The concert was an informal one to showcase both individual and group performances from all genres of music.

“The music staff work diligently with students, many of whom take exams within their chosen instrument.

“An important part of the learning is to perform in front of an audience and it also gives parents the opportunity to see the progress being made by their children.

“The concert was free to anyone wishing to attend but we were taking donations on the evening.

“The money raised from our music concerts this year is going towards a new grand piano for the Peakman Hall, which will greatly improve the experience for our pupils and audience alike.”
