Healthy turnout at Stourbridge Vegan Show

Hundreds of people turned out to a popular vegan festival at Stourbridge Town Hall.

The Stourbridge Vegan Festival returned for the second year at the venue on Saturday.

The event featured around 40 stalls selling items including hot food, cakes, beauty products, clothes, bags and ice cream.

There was also a host of charity stalls, talks, information and advice for people thinking about becoming vegan.

The event, on Saturday, which was organised by Shena Fairless, from Pudz Animal Sanctuary which is based in Lincolnshire, also helped to raise £2,000 for various charities – including animal rescue and protection groups.

Ms Fairless said: “It was a festival with around 40 stalls selling hot food, cakes and all different kinds of vegan produce.

“There was bags and purses made out of recycled tyres, cakes, candles, all different kinds of food, shoes, clothes – there was a big range of products on offer.

“There was also information and advice, charity groups and talks for residents thinking about becoming vegan or those who are newly vegan.

“We had around a thousand people turn up throughout the event on Saturday which was very successful for us.

“During the event we also raised money for several charities, with around £2,000 raised for charities including Hillfields Animal Rescue and Pudz Animal Sanctuary.”

She said she was please she made the decision to come to the Black Country and that locals had responded well to what she had to offer.

She added: “Initially a friend suggested bring our event to Stourbridge and there wasn’t anything similar taking place in the town.

“This is the second vegan festival we have held in Stourbridge – and it has been really successful.”

Shena said that Stourbridge Vegan Festival would be returning to Stourbridge Town Hall in August 2020 following this weekend’s success.
