Black Country Day festivities are in full swing with family days, marathons, comedy shows and more - bostin'.

The annual Black Country Festival features independent events throughout July - with Black Country Day being the centrepiece on July 14.

July 4 - Kum-n-avaloff Comedy Night, Stourbridge Town Hall

Steve Day, Darren Mortiboy and Tony Basnett will perform at the monthly Kum-n-avaloff Comedy Night in Stourbridge with MC Dan Smith.

What's more, curry and rice is served during the interval as part of your ticket price. Vegetarian options are available.

Please be advised that the show will contain swearing and material of an adult nature. Not suitable for under 18s.

July 6 - The Birmingham Black Country Half Marathon

The Birmingham Black Country Half Marathon returns for 2019.

The race is a unique point to point race along the canal towpaths between Wolverhampton City Centre and Brindley Place in Birmingham.

The race format is based on peoples predicted running time (seeded) in a time trial format with runners starting in waves between 8am and 12pm. The conditions underfoot vary from gravel tracks and un-kept trails to smooth pavement.

The route features floating drink stations every three miles offering runners water and electrolyte.

The finish line is in the heart of Brindley Place, Birmingham, all finishers will receive a bespoke finishers medal, well stocked goody bag. Brindley Place boasts plenty of pubs and bars where you can refuel after the event and spend some time cheering in finishers.

Entry to take part costs £30 and it is free to spectate and volunteer.

July 6 - Halesowen Carnival, Highfield Park

This annual event returns once more for 2019, taking place at Highfield Park.

The fair will have live music and dance, wrestling, a free-to-enter dog show, a variety of stalls, food and drink, and more.

Union J's Jaymi Hensley, who is currently starring in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat at Birmingham Hippodrome, will cut the ribbon at the event.

July 6 - Netherton Park Fun Day and Music Festival

Enjoy two stages of live music at this year's Netherton Park Fun Day and Music Festival.

There will be live bands, dance acts and choirs performing at the Northfield Road event.

Other entertainment on offer includes face painting, inflatables, pony rides, a classic car show, children's rides, a fire service display, craft stalls and more.

July 6 - The Women Chainmakers' Festival, Mary Macarthur Gardens

The largest celebration in Britain of women's political history is set to take place as part of this year's Black Country Festival.

Stalls open from 11am with the new Leftfield Tent opening at 12pm. The Leftfield will feature activities for kids, as well as political debate, with panels exploring the role of women in trade unions and society and how to organise young workers.

The much-loved theatrical re-enactment will take place at 2.30pm with a banner parade around Cradley Heath, before the main tent opens with speeches and music.

Headlining the festival is the Latin funk band Wara with performances from Third Junction, Sunflower Thieves, Cathy Hunt and Louise Townsend and Emily Lockett.

July 13 - Dudley Classic Car Show and Family Fun Day, Stone Street

Enjoy a static display of some of the finest cars around at the Dudley Classic Car Show and Family Fun Day.

From 11am to 5pm attendees can also enjoy a Punch and Judy show, free kids entertainment, market stalls, street entertainers and displays, as well as the Black Country Radio Stage.

July 14 - Black Country Musicom Festival, Himley Hall

Bands and artists are being given the chance to shine at this summer's Black Country Musicom Festival.

The outdoor event will take place at Himley Hall and Park on Black Country Day with performances from tribute bands to Oasis, Little Mix, Spice Girls and Queen.

But organisers have ensured there is a local flavour to the day's musical entertainment - with performances from artists from the Black Country.

Gornal-based band The Empty Can - who wrote the Black Country Anthem - will perform on the main stage. They will be joined by singer songwriters Jess Silk and Alex Ohm and ukulele player Joe James Thomas.

The festival runs between 12pm noon and 7pm and it will also include a comedy tent, as well as a fun fair, face painting, virtual reality and gaming zones.

Junior tickets for ages five to 15 years cost £8, and adult tickets cost £12. Under five's go free.

July 18 to 21 - The Hollybush Comedy Festival, Cradley Heath

Bush Fest returns for 2019 as part of the Black Country Festival.

Sponsored by Teme Valley Brewery and Blue Giraffe Comedy, the annual celebration of open mic comedy will see performances from Jimmy Frinton and Milo McCabe.

This event is free to attend.

July 20 - The Brier Fair, Brierley Hill High Street

The Brier Fair will be back this month to celebrate Black Country Day.

In Cottage Street there will be a stage featuring local acts, market stalls, children's activities including face painting, street entertainment and funfair

Black Country Radio will also be broadcasting from the event.

July 28 - Coseley Black Country Festival Event, Castle Street

The Black Country Festival will close with the Coseley Black Country Festival Event.

The event will take place from 1pm to 4pm with more details to be announced.

Last year's event saw entertainment from West Midlands Fire Service Brass Band and the Black Country Radio Roadshow.

Attendees could also enjoy a funfair, a fire walker, market stalls, a raffle, and displays from West Midlands Police and West Midlands Fire Service.
