West Brom v Forest Player Ratings

The Baggies put in a display that really should have warranted three points.

But they were denied due to some poor referring, excellent goalkeeping, while they also should have been more clinical.

Here we rate how the players performed.

Sam Johnstone

The truth is the keeper had very little to do. Johnstone can't be faulted for Kyle Bartley turning Sammy Ameobi's cross into his own net. He also couldn't do anything about Matt Cash's equaliser. Otherwise, he kicked well and seems to be taking fewer risks with his feet. 6

Dara O’Shea

The young defender can be really proud of the way he has gone about his business since being deployed at right-back. Here, he stood up excellently to the threat of Ameobi. He also came close to scoring in the first-half with a header that was well blocked. 7

Kyle Bartley

A disappointing day for the centre-back who was caught out early doors when he failed to deal with a cross from which Lewis Grabban really should have scored. He then netted an own-goal and also should have done better with a header in the build-up to Forest's second. 6

Semi Ajayi

A brilliant showing from the Nigerian international who showed all the qualities a centre-back needs to make it to the very top. Ajayi read the game well, used his pace to mop up dangerous balls forward and was also commanding in the air. Excellent. 8

Conor Townsend

Townsend has gone from strength to strength ever since that impressive display in the win at West Ham. Defensively sound, he won countless second balls and 50/50 challenges here. Continued what is an excellent partnership down the left with Callum Robinson. 8

Romaine Sawyers

Again deployed in the 'quarter-back' role in Albion's midfield three, there were times when Sawyers passed the ball through the lines really well. But there were also one or two moments where he looked too casual defensively. He also needs to find the courage to shoot more. 7

Jake Livermore

Sabri Lamouchi was adamant Albion's skipper should have seen red. And he was lucky. But that moment aside, Livermore was absolutely outstanding. He won tackles in both boxes, set the tone when it came to his team's pressing and also can claim an assist for the own-goal scored by Tobias Figueiredo. The 30-year-old covered every blade of grass in what can only be described as a complete midfield performance. Marked down one point, though, for making a challenge that had the potential to be a red. 8

Filip Krovinovic

Outstanding in recent weeks, Krovinovic was a touch quieter here. Nevertheless, he still moved the ball well and showed flashes of his quality when combining with Robinson, Matheus Pereira and Hal Robson-Kanu. Isn't afraid to do the dirty work in his new midfield role. 7

Matheus Pereira

Another majestic display from the Brazilian who created Albion's first goal by winning the ball from Samba Sow and then slipping in Robinson with a perfectly weighted pass. Fouled time and time again, Pereira didn't let Forest's rough treatment stop him with his ball-carrying abilities a key reason why Albion played so well. 8

Callum Robinson

The 25-year-old links so well with Albion's other forwards that it looks like he's been playing with them since childhood rather than just a few weeks. Netted his first Baggies goal with an excellent finish and then went close on two other occasions. His overall directness has added so much to the team. What a signing. 9

Hal Robson-Kanu

The striker would have scored if Figueiredo hadn't put the ball in the net for him. Robson-Kanu showed his quality in flashes with some nice flicks and one-touch passes. He did, though, go through some spells in the game where he was quiet. 7
