New signings Scott Nicholls and Nick Morris joined up with their team-mates for the traditional open practice session watched by hundreds of supporters.

Riders and club bosses will be back tonight for the pre-season talk-in, before they race at Birmingham tomorrow night in a farewell meeting for Brummies co-owner David Mason.

Seven-time British champion Nicholls joined earlier this month after Swedish star Jacob Thorssell suffered a hand injury which will keep him out until June.

Wolves are aiming to bounce back from a disappointing 2018 campaign when they missed out on the Premiership play-offs.

Promoter Chris Van Straaten said: “Last year, by our usual high standards, was very disappointing. We have built a team we think will get back to the play-offs this year.

“Obviously the Jacob Thorssell injury was bad timing but to have a rider of Scott’s quality available is breathtaking really.

“I would not like to take odds on who will top score in this team. There are four riders in the top five for whom you would not bat an eyelid if they top scored.

“I’m really excited for the season. This is my 33rd season at Monmore and I am just as excited as I was all the way back then.”

Wolves race for the first time at Monmore next Monday when they take on newly-promoted Peterborough in the Premiership Supporters Cup.
