Wolverhampton Wolves speedway keen to re-sign old favourites

Wolverhampton speedway bosses reckon the club’s supporters won’t be disappointed if their team plans for 2019 come off.

Promoter Chris Van Straaten and team manager Peter Adams were in the hot seat as fans turned out in force for the annual Winter Talk-In at the Cleveland Arms Sports Pub on Monday.

And while the management duo weren’t able to confirm any signings, it is thought popular riders Jacob Thorssell and Kyle Howarth are likely to return.

Former Wolves star Piotr Pawlicki is also believed to be on the radar though Tai Woffinden and Freddie Lindgren are unlikley to return to Monmore in 2019.

Adams said: “Within 15 minutes of the points limit being agreed at the AGM, Chris and myself had already drawn up team plans for 2019.

“There are names which feature in all of the variations we’ve come up with and we’re fairly confident we’ll be able to get them on board.

“As things stand supporters can expect to see a few popular faces they know back at Monmore Green mixed with some new names they won’t have cheered on in Wolverhampton colours previously.

“While we’d love to tell you those names now, talks are still ongoing with all riders so we’ll keep them to ourselves for the time being.

“We’re a club who likes to break news of what is definitely going to happen not what could happen.

“So when the ink is dry on those contracts our supporters will be the first to know.

“We’re more than happy with the team plans we’ve got in place and we’re pretty sure they will go down well with supporters too should everything get over that line and when everything is signed and sealed.

“People already know that our 2018 season didn’t go to plan for one reason or another but they should also know myself and Chris have a determination and a habit from bouncing back from adversity and disappointment so 2019 is already looking very exciting.”

2019 Season Tickets are now available to purchase online.

Alternatively supporters will be able to buy their Season Tickets from Monmore Green Stadium on Saturday, December 1.
