Jacob Thorssell all fired up for Wolverhampton Wolves opener

Super Swede Jacob Thorssell is raring to go as Wolverhampton’s leading light as they head to Poole tonight.

Thorssell takes the No.1 spot to start the season after recovering from a serious back injury. The Dorset showdown is the first outing for both clubs after the rain delay which has wiped out much of British Speedway in the early stages.

And Thorssell said: “I’m really looking forward to it, I’m so pleased to be back with Wolverhampton and I’m determined to do a good job for them.

"It was a bit stressful at one point because it could have gone the other way and I could have been left out, but we are here now and I’m pleased about that. It will be tough being No.1 but it’s a challenge for me and I’m determined to do the job the team needs from me.”

Poole are strongly fancied for the title according to various pundits and have brought Thorssell’s fellow Swede Linus Sundstrom and Dane Peter Kildemand back to British racing.

Kildemand is in as a short term replacement for Chris Holder, the 2012 World Champion, who has personal issues to iron out.

Wolverhampton, who face champions Swindon at Monmore next Monday, have named Rory Schlein as skipper and have retained five of last season’s side.

Cameron Heeps makes his debut for the Parrys International Wolves and Ashley Morris makes a welcome return to the club.
