The popular Swede, who broke his back, is well on the road to fitness ahead of the new season and is set to fly over to join skipper Rory Schlein at an open day hosted by club sponsors Parrys International on Sunday.

The duo will be available to meet supporters, sign autographs and have pictures taken between 10.30am and 1.30pm.

Dave Parry of Parrys International said: “We have invited Jacob over and it will be really nice to see both him and Rory.

“We all know what a dreadful crash it was for Jacob in the play-off semi-final with Belle Vue and Peter Adams (team manager) admitted both he and Freddie Lindgren were a millimetre away from more serious injuries.

“We look forward to welcoming them and also the general public who will be made most welcome.”

Parrys International are based at Landywood Green in Cheslyn Hay and the event always pulls in a bumper turnout with plenty of speedway fans.

They will be displaying their fleet of coaches as well as launching their 2018 tour brochure.

Meanwhile, Wolverhampton have announced a series of dates to launch the new Premiership season.

Their popular press and practice will take place at Monmore on Monday, March 19, from 6.30pm when all the team will be on hand to meet the media and go through their paces.

The following night, March 20, they will be on hand to meet fans at the club’s pre-season talk-in at the Cleveland Arms, Stow Heath Lane in Wolverhampton (close to Monmore Green) from 8pm.

And the opening meeting of the 2018 season will take place on Monday, March 26, at 7.30pm.

Elsewhere, legendary brothers Peter Karlsson and Mikael Max are flying over from Sweden for a special evening with fans at the Cleveland Arms in March and further details will follow.
