Head coach Paul Glover was proud of his side, despite watching them lose 2-0 to Merseyside Blind in the prestigious final at St George’s Park.

And he pointed to two promising debuts from new players.

“It is disappointing, but we can take away a lot of learning,” said Glover. “We had two young players making their debut, that will be beneficial moving into next year. That’s going to help us.

“We really are in transition, so moving forward we can play a more expansive style of football.

“We want to be greedy and win competitions where we can but we’re also about development here at West Brom.

“I’m really excited for the future, hopefully next year we can come back and win.”

Albion Blind won the National Blind League in 2017/18 but couldn’t defend their title in the season just gone.

“We go again in the league,” said Glover. “We narrowly missed out on that this year.

“We’ll give that a real good go, we’ve got some exciting youngsters coming through, one of them we’re pushing for the FA to allow him to play. We think he’s ready. Hopefully we can start winning more trophies.”

And he paid tribute to the Albion supporters who took time to come and watch the final.

“The lads really appreciate it, they’re not used to playing in front of fans, but they enjoy it. So thank you to everybody that came to support.”
