The club have teamed up with UK charity Tennis For Free in a bid to get people on court at Cheslyn Hay Leisure Centre.

This will be one of the first Tennis for Free session sites in the country with the emphasis on creating an inclusive, exciting atmosphere which will enhance community engagement in tennis. Through linking with a local tennis club, Tennis For Free and South Staffordshire Council hopes to see as many participants as possible playing regular tennis.

The Tennis for Free Lite sessions swing into action tomorrow between 6.30-7.30pm is a one-hour ‘super charged’ session which will be delivered on three courts for anyone aged 12 upwards.

This type of session is designed to drive tennis interest further at a facility that was named ‘Midlands Tennis Venue of the year’ in 2017.

Participants will be split into two groups – a beginner’s section and an improvers group. This framework allows the players to engage in a variety of different drills and games, during which they can improve their racquet skills.

The concept of Tennis For Free offers weekly tennis sessions without the cost barrier of equipment which can prevent people from joining in at their tennis venue.

All equipment is provided and will be organised by LTA Licensed coaches at Cheslyn Hay Tennis Club. For more information on the sessions and to sign up, go to cheslynhaylc.courtline.net or alternatively contact cheslynhaytennis@live.com.
