They train at West Walsall E-ACT Academy Primley Avenue (WS2 9UA) and are still recruiting girls.

This comes after the FA’s objective to double girls’ football participation by 2020 was announced and will see 200 SSE Wildcats Girls Football Clubs opening throughout England this spring.

With a limit of 30 places and 15 places already filled, places are quickly running out to join one of the teams.

“We hope to have six or seven teams ready for next season and we are desperate for an under-16 side” said chairman Brain Simpson.

“Come and join the group above who are already enjoying the fun and improving skills that our coaches can provide.”

After last season’s Walsall Ladies side rebranded as Wolverhampton Sporting, this year’s side are starting from scratch but Simpson still has high hopes.

“We are playing in the Staffordshire County League this year and fully expect to win it with the players that we have recruited so far. We have a five year plan of where we expect to be.”

“We were formed as Great Wyrley Ladies, before being changed to Walsall Ladies in 2003 when we became affiliated to Walsall Football Club, and have played in the West Midlands Regional League Division One North and the Premier Division.”
