Pedro Neto says the confidence shown in him by Nuno Espirito Santo has allowed him to shine for Wolves and surprise a lot of people.

The 20-year-old winger arrived at Molineux last summer as a relative unknown, having only made a handful of appearances for previous club Lazio.

But the Portuguese has impressed and managed to score four goals this term – including the equaliser in Wolves’ 1-1 Europa League last-16 draw against Olympiacos, just before football was suspended due to the coronavirus outbreak.

And Neto, on Talksport, said on his relationship with Nuno: “It is easy to play for him as he trusts in his players. He’s a very good manager and encourages the players to give all they have.

“It’s been easy to play for him as you can see he’s an amazing coach.

“A lot of what I’ve been doing is from my work, but it’s from the confidence he gives me.

“I arrived here and I think a lot of people didn’t expect what I’m doing. This is about my work, but a lot about the confidence too.”

Neto’s rise has been one of many positives for Wolves this season but for the time being, all the players are having to train from home because of the pandemic.

On that, Neto said: “It’s been a bit difficult as we are at home, not doing what we like. Being without football is like being without a part of our lives.

“The staff are always telling us to stay safe, don’t take risks and avoid the supermarket as well. They are giving us supplies like food. It’s been difficult, but they are supporting us a lot.”

Meanwhile, Wolves’ wait to find out what will happen with the Europa goes on as Uefa have said all their club competitions remain postponed until further notice after holding a meeting yesterday.
