Oskar Buur keen to seize opportunity at Wolves
Oskar Buur aims to kick on and become an important part of Wolves’ first team – as the club await an update on the future of the season.
Football is currently suspended until at least April 30 because of the coronavirus pandemic and the return to action is expected to be delayed further.
Buur, who recently signed a new long-term contract, is training individually from home – as are the rest of the Wolves squad.
And speaking before Wolves’ last Premier League game, the 0-0 draw with Brighton, the wing-back said on his aims for the future: “It’s not like now I’m just happy that I’ve played for the first team.
“I want to do more, improve and be a part of it – not just sit back and relax.
“I’m just trying to do my best and seeing what I can do to help the team.”
Uefa president Aleksander Ceferin has admitted the season could be lost if it cannot be restarted by the end of June.
He also said it could be restarted in August – when next season is supposed to start.
Wolves, either way, will need to be patient, as the young Dane has had to be.
After making his senior bow in April 2018, scoring in a 2-2 draw with Hull, he had to wait a year-and-a-half before being fully integrated into the squad by boss Nuno Espirito Santo.
“It’s not just like ‘I scored a goal, now I’m a first-team player’,” added 21-year-old Buur.
“I had to work hard again – keep going and improving – and then time will show what will happen.
“I think I needed to take another step before I could be part of the first team, like now.
“I just had to improve, work hard.
“Then I was lucky enough to get the contract and get up here to the first team this year.”
