Nuno’s pride in Europa League 'building process' for Wolves

Nuno Espirito Santo has told of his pride in the ‘building process’ that has taken Wolves from the Championship to the last 16 of the Europa League within three seasons.

Wolves travel to Athens to face Olympiacos on March 12 with the return leg a week later – but Nuno has already turned his attentions to tomorrow’s clash with Spurs.

And while Wolves fans are still pinching themselves as their Europa League adventure continues, Nuno said he takes most satisfaction from the growth of the club since he took over in 2017.

The Molineux men could take strides towards securing a Champions League spot with a win at Tottenham, but the head coach is more interested in the development of the club.

“What makes me proud is the building process that we’ve been involved in since three seasons ago,” said the Portuguese.

“The team is growing, having a team and having an idea that doesn’t change too much the shape, but always be able to compete against different opponents is what we want to be.

“It’s not about where we want to compete, it’s about how we do things and how we want to proceed on our growing process.”

And while he expects a tough mission in Athens, he is first preparing for a hard game in north London tomorrow against his former boss Jose Mourinho.

“Fantastic manager,” said Nuno of his former Porto boss.

“I know him, and I know how hard it is going to be, because no matter who is not involved, the squad has quality players all over.

“It’s going to be very tough for us, but we will look forward to it."
