Reaction to the Result

I’m slowly falling out of love with watching Wolves play and that’s through no fault of the team, fans or club. VAR has turned the game that has given me so much into an unfathomable science experiment. Wolves were much better than Leicester for the whole 90 and really should have converted on more than one occasion but Jimenez was wasteful in front of goal. Defensively Wolves were superb and kept Vardy quiet all night. A game that Wolves should have won, especially with the news breaking that fifth place will get Champions League football.

Man of the Match

Eyebrows were raised when Moutinho was left on the bench but Neves more than stepped up to the occasion. Against a Leicester midfield who have won a lot of plaudits, Neves completely controlled the middle of the park. His defensive contribution twinned with his passing meant that Wolves could get a real hold of the game.

Something to Improve

Wolves need to take their chances. It’s still so frustrating that they don’t make teams pay for their mistakes.

Reaction to the Result

Putting all the emotion to one side and it felt like another drawn game we should have won. Plenty of attempts, lots of corners that found a gold shirt – but we failed to hit the target enough. Football, and being a football fan, as we all know, IS about emotion though. We know following a football team means you suffer. But when will it end for us? Robbed again. Against Leicester again. Please, will somebody show some common sense regarding decision making.

Man of the Match

We had a mixed batch of performances within the team with some good and some not so good. Keeping a clean sheet gives a hint to the players who played well. Neves shined in midfield and played some superb passes. Boly and Coady looked like they hardly broke sweat. Our left side was outstanding however with Saiss just slightly ahead of Jonny for MOTM.

Something to Improve

In a nutshell the finishing of Jimenez and the form of Jota. The telepathy between then is also lacking at the moment. We know how dynamic they can be, hopefully that chemistry will return soon.

The first ever winter break, but we return to another shambolic decision from the VAR officials, to spoil an exciting game and a good performance from Wolves. It was obvious that the referee had no idea why the goal was disallowed either. There was so much wrong with that decision. It’s nothing short of disgraceful. Credit to the players for overcoming yet another debacle to really dominate the play in the second half. We really should have gone on to win though. We had lots of chances to score; four times you would have put money on Jimenez but it just wasn’t his night. Leicester enjoyed lots of possession, but this was mostly around their back four. Time after time they were stuck on the half way line with no forward options. They had started to waste time even before the red card on 76 minutes and celebrated their point fervently. I expected their clappers to come out at the end!

Man of the Match

Willy Boly was the boss! Vardy hardly touched the ball and didn’t get a single attempt on goal. They were limited to speculative shots on goal and couldn’t muster a single corner. Maddison came up with his obligatory dive in the box. It’s time referees got to grips with this form of cheating. I was disappointed that Moutinho and Traore did not start. They both made a positive difference when coming on, but didn’t really have enough game time. I thought Jonny and Neves were excellent too. Neto did well, but Jota and Jimenez must do better. I like the look of Podence, but my 10-year-old son is taller than him!

Something to Improve

Too often, I feel that we are well on top in a game but do not really go all out for victory. The midfield frustrated me in the first half, as they stayed too deep and made it very easy for Leicester to pick up the loose balls around their box. However, I must say our midfield remained a solid unit as Leicester could not get past the half way line that often with the ball. Clearly, it’s our heading and shooting that needs practice –15 goal attempts and seven corners.

Reaction to the Result

We did well, played well and created a few half decent chances and should have won. Leicester are a good side and we had the measure of them. The fact that it ended 0-0 is down to the appalling monstrosity that is VAR. Cricket, tennis and rugby amongst other sports have got video technology right. Football is a shambles. The emotion is being ripped out and if it continues I would urge all football clubs to curb their ideas of ground expansion as if this utter shambles continues un-checked we will be lucky to see more than a few hundred fans at the next video game match.

Man of the Match

Again everyone with Jonny and Neves standing out.

Something to Improve

Yet again conversion of chances and the removal of VAR.

Reaction to the Result

I’ve been going to Molineux for nigh on sixty years; even during the darkest of days I’ve loved it, absolutely lapped it up, it’s made life worth living. Right now as far as I am concerned, football can stick it. When an entertainment business turns somersaults to find ways to stifle enjoyment and expression then its list of priorities is hopelessly maladjusted. No team in this league has been paralysed more by this ghastly VAR system than Wolves. Pedantic, minuscule fractions of centimetres allowed to destroy the joy and spontaneity of the spectacle with interminable hold-ups as replays are pored over ad nauseum. And if ever a game needed a boost it was this one. Instead of the injection of passion the over-ruled goal would have provided the match drifted back into stalemate. For two of the better sides in this league, it was a poor affair. Even so, Wolves should still have won the game; Jimenez was unbelievably profligate saving the worst for the very end when he spurned a glorious chance presented with a free header. When the opportunity came to stretch a team reduced in numbers not for the first time this season, we failed to take advantage of numerical superiority.

Man of the Match

Defensively, Wolves coped admirably easily snuffing out the threat of Vardy but although we remain hard to beat, we find winning regularly painfully elusive. As soon as Traore set foot on the pitch our offensive options increased immeasurably.

Something to Improve

Boly’s disallowed strike apart, our finishing was lamentable. But yet again, all the talk is not about football instead it’s about a lesson in geometry. It can’t be right that every time your team scores a goal that your heart is in your mouth awaiting some external verification. We’re saddled with this ‘clear and obvious’ ambiguity for the present but the system must be overhauled because at present it absolutely stinks.
