Reaction to the Result

I don’t think I’ve ever felt as strange after a Wolves game before. Losing to the Champions of Europe at home but it almost felt like a victory. Not three points but a victory. The fight and ability that Wolves showed out there last night filled me with an immense amount of pride and admiration. They matched Liverpool all evening but it was the fine margins that made the difference between a great side and a world class side. That’s the level we should be aiming for.

Man of the Match

Adama Traore and the man of the match award are starting to build quite the bond. Superb again all night from the Spaniard. His turnaround this season has been sensational and like Klopp said, simply unstoppable.

Something to Improve

Defensively, Wolves looked a bit panicked and the two goals could’ve been prevented. I think Coady has to do more on both of them. That right hand defensive side concerns me to and has to be improved.

They say it is the hope that kills you, well our hope was firmly put in its place inside ten minutes.

If only we 'did' first halves. Our bounce-back-ability is renowned and it was on display yet again. We had so many half chances - it began to look like we'd never score.

Cometh the second half and cometh our dazzling duo. A goal crafted by Traore and Jimenez to beat any World Champion. Our hope was back, and with it, more half chances.

We were eventually destroyed by the fine margins though and the players body language at the 84th minute setback reflected the feeling of everyone with gold and black in their heart.

A terrific performance in a game of such high tempo and against such quality. If ever there was a defeat that had so many positives it was this one.

Man of the Match

As you would expect, in order to compete in a game like this we needed plenty of standout performances. We had them, Patricio, Saiss, Neves, Neto all caught the eye, but once again, with the ball at his feet, Traore was amazing and gets MOTM.

Something to Improve

Only the obvious, score more than the opposition, which probably means getting more men in the box. It was impressive that we could play at such a high tempo for the whole game. If we can replicate that on a regular basis then we can raise our bar even higher.

Very frustrating to lose so late on after such a spirited performance but football can be cruel sometimes. Liverpool were clinical in the end but we can take a lot of credit for how we got the equaliser and then tried to win the game. I’m confident not many teams have given Liverpool such hard games both home and away this season. A lot of positives to take from the performance and we’re still in the race for the top 6 at the very least.

Man of the Match

Adama, Neves, Neto and Raúl all played very well I thought. The link up between Jiménez and Traoré for the goal was fantastic, then the header from the Mexican was exquisite. Neves seemed to be everywhere and involved in everything, constantly recycling possession and moving the ball quickly for us to attack and cause problems.

Something to Improve

We had the chances at 1-1 and big opportunities which we failed to make the right pass to set someone free that showed the difference in quality. On another day we probably play the correct pass and take the lead but we haven’t and obviously lost the game in the end but you can only learn from these things.

What a fantastic game. It was another classic encounter under the lights, at Molineux.

Two great teams going head to head and, for once, the game was not spoiled by either officials or VAR!

Not the result we wanted, but there are no complaints from me.

The game could have gone either way. First blows to Liverpool, then Wolves got into their rhythm and had them on the back foot for long periods. Wolves had chances, lots of chances to score and go on to win. They were well on top for most of the second half. Make no mistake, this was Liverpool’s toughest game of their season.

They were holding on after the equaliser, but got the killer blow towards the end.

Cruel. Very cruel.

Man of the Match

The front 3 of Jimenez, Traore and Neto were on fire once more.

Liverpool had their hands full coping with their skill and pace. They were running the show throughout the second half, with assistance from Neves and a Moutinho who were controlling the midfield.

Traore was awesome. Every time he took on Alexander-Arnold, he went passed him and got his cross into the box. When moving more central, he caused havoc too, up against Van Dyke. He gets Man of the Match.

Something to Improve

Both teams were creating lots of chances on goal. Wolves had the better chances and did not put them away. Doherty had two in the first half and Jota should have equalised right at the end.

It really was a great encounter, so no complaints from me.

It’s a good measure of how far this team has developed this season and the overwhelming feeling at the end was one of pride. The fans stayed to applaud and the noise was incredible. A defeat, but a memorable night.

Goals win games.Simple fact and Liverpool were just more clinical than us. The performance though just shows where we are at and what there is to come. Liverpool are now 16 points clear at the top but they were decidedly second best tonight especially in the second half where Traore ran them ragged and Neves was superb in midfield all night. It just needed that extra goal but the way we played overall shows that we deserve to be up there challenging foremother European place

Man of the Match

Who Played Well? As mentioned earlier, Traore and Neves were quite brilliant and a special mention to Neto who gets better week after week

Something to Improve

Anything To Improve ? Just converting a few more chances but I couldn't ask for much more than that-its light years away from the Cavan and Campbell days!
