More to come warns Wolves forward Adama Traore

Wolves ace Adama Traore says the best is yet to come as he refused to bask in his 2019 form.

The 23-year-old transformed from a squad player to one of the first names on boss Nuno Espirito Santo’s team sheet during the last calender year.

But as we enter 2020, the versatile winger is keen to improve.

He said: “I would say no (2019 was not my best year). Because if I am the same man of yesterday, for me it is one day lost.

“I do not agree that 2019 was my best year.

“I think I have to improve, get better and get better every day.

“That is my mentality.”

Traore was rested for the 1-0 defeat at Liverpool on Sunday, but was set to return to the starting line-up on the right of the front three at Watford today.

And the Spanish-born attacker is happy with how he has progressed this year.

He said: “I’m happy. But the happiest I can be is when we are winning the games and helping the team to achieve the aim, which is winning.

“I’m happy with that and I have done a lot of things in different positions.

“I’ve played wing-back, winger, a striker and I’m happy to grow. I trust in the process of Nuno and I will keep pushing and growing and give my best.”

Traore made the move to England in 2015 when he joined Villa from Spanish giants Barcelona.

He left for Middlesbrough a season later before returning to the Midlands to join Wolves for an £18m fee in 2018.

And the flying winger turned forward is grateful for his past experiences.

He said: “A few people will say I had a tough time with teams like Aston Villa and Middlesbrough, but from each situation I try to take the good things.

“Aston Villa and Middlesbrough taught me about English football.”

“That is is tough, difficult and what life in professional football is like.

“I’m happy for everything.

“Defeats like at Liverpool, wins, or bad moments in the past I take them as experience and keep pushing and growing as a player and a professional.”
