Wolves won 5-4 on spot-kicks after drawing 2-2 with the Shrimps – Elliot Watt and Austin Samuels the scorers for Edwards' side.

They are now on five points in Northern Group G after a 4-2 triumph at Carlisle as well.

"Elliot's free-kick, how good was that? He was outstanding in the first half, really different class," said Edwards.

"Dion (Sanderson) put in a leader's performance as captain, and Benny (Ashley-Seal) and Austin were really tough to handle.

"There's lots of good stuff. But saying that, we've still got to be better.

"There are bits to work on, but for a young team, there are loads of positives. It bodes well for the future."

One of the disappointing aspects for Edwards was that Tom Brewitt levelled for Morecambe straight after Watt's stunning opener.

Michael Howard then came up with another equaliser for the hosts after a nice side-footed finish from Samuels.

"There were really good periods of control in the first half – we played really well," said Edwards.

"We controlled it well and scored a great couple of goals.

"It was disappointing to concede so soon after scoring the first, and in the second half, Morecambe really upped it. They were aggressive and stopped us from playing our game.

"We conceded but made sure we didn't concede again and still looked a threat on the counter, had a few good chances.

"And it was great for the lads to find a way to win it on the penalties."
