The 33-year-old Portuguese midfielder has been a revelation since being signed for £5million from Monaco last year, and the club are determined to keep him around.

The Euro 2016-winner's current deal expires at the end of the season, but him staying for two more is being discussed, and negotiations are understood to be well on their way to being concluded.

Moutinho arrived after trophy-laden spells at Sporting, Porto and Monaco, and was instrumental as Wolves enjoyed vast success last season.

He won Wolves' player of the year at the end-of-season awards.

Moutinho has made 56 appearances in gold and black, scoring once – a stunner as Wolves drew 1-1 with Manchester United at Old Trafford last term.
