Wolves' Raul Jimenez player of the tournament as Mexico win the Gold Cup
Wolves star Raul Jimenez was named played of the tournament as Mexico beat the USA 1-0 to win the Gold Cup.
Jimenez scored five goals and provided two assists during six appearances to help Mexico lift the trophy in Chicago last night.
Those assists included a back-heeled pass to Jonathan Dos Santos for the winning goal in the final and after the game Jimenez was given the 'Golden Ball' for being the stand-out player of the competition.
The 28-year-old scored the winning penalty against Haiti in the semi-final, as well as a goal in the 1-1 quarter-final against Costa Rica which Mexico won on penalties.
Jimenez, who is adored in his home country, has enjoyed the best season of his career with 25 goals in 57 appearances for club and country.
He follows Portuguese quartet Joao Moutinho, Rui Patricio, Ruben Neves and Diogo Jota in winning a trophy for his country this summer.
Jimenez will now be given some much needed time off before returning to first-team duty with Wolves in the coming weeks.
