Wolves have enjoyed a superb record against the big six teams this season, earning 16 points and beating Arsenal, Manchester United, Chelsea and Spurs.

Neves believes the way Brighton celebrated earning a point at Molineux last weekend proves they’re a pretty big fish themselves.

“Against Brighton, the way they celebrated a point against us, we feel like a big team,” he said.

“You don’t have many teams celebrating a point against a team that isn’t in the top six.

“This shows we’re improving and we’re doing well.

“The way we play, it’s hard to play against us. Every team has difficulty.”

Wolves travel to Watford this weekend intent on gaining revenge after this month;s FA Cup semi-final defeat. Victory would also put them within reach of cementing a seventh-place finish.

“We have three games to fight,” Neves said after Wolves' 3-1 victory over Arsenal on Wednesday.

“Watford is playing really good as well, they have a great team. They’re fighting for the same things as us. We’ll try to play the same.”

Neves opened the scoring at Molineux with a pinpoint free-kick.

He stressed the importance of Wolves having to bounce back after no win in three matches.

“It was a good game for us,” he said. “We had to bounce back from the last three games and we did it. We deserved the win.

“I was confident to take the free-kick and fortunately I scored.

“I’m really happy and mainly for the team performance.

“We started the game quite low in the pitch but after the first 10 minutes we controlled the game, they didn’t have chances.

“We had some possession and defended really well. We play always the same way, even against the lower teams. We always try to play in our shape, with possession, really organised and I think we’re doing well.

“We have three games to go and a lot of things to achieve. Let’s keep going.”

The midfielder also paid tribute to his Portuguese team-mate Diogo Jota, who netted his eighth goal in 11 Molineux appearances during a virtuoso performance.

“Diogo is a fantastic player,” Neves said. “He showed last season and this season, he’s been perfect for us.

“He can take the whole team to the front and does work offensively and defensively. He’s a great player and we’re thankful to have him.”
