Ole Gunnar Solskjaer credits Wolves for beating 'poor' Manchester United

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer felt Manchester United were the worst they have been under him in their quarter-final defeat – but credited Wolves for taking advantage.

Solskjaer's United had their FA Cup dreams dashed as Nuno Espirito Santo's side ran out 2-1 winners at Molineux.

Marcus Rashford scored for United, but only in stoppage-time after Raul Jimenez and Diogo Jota struck for Wolves, who are on their way to Wembley for the semis.

"It was the poorest performance we’ve had. We never had the urgency and quality on the ball," said Solskjaer.

"The tempo on the ball was not there, so we played into their hands.

"We never managed to put their keeper and defenders under pressure, apart from a few long balls to Rashford. There was not enough quality.

"It was a big step backwards from us, I have got to say.

"It is the worst performance since I’ve been here. There was a lack of forward passing."

But Solskjaer refused to sulk, instead looking at the positives – mainly the fact they still have the Champions League to fight for.

"Of course we’re disappointed, but we’ve got to look forward," he added.

"Sometimes the international break comes at a good time, so hopefully we’ll be able to have a break and then push on again in the Premier League and the Champions League.

"This is the poorest we’ve played, but it’s against a good team, so don’t take anything away from Wolves' performance even though we underperformed."
