Goal-getter Raul Jimenez happy to play team game for Wolves
Raul Jimenez says he won't sacrifice his 'team player' approach as he sets about adding to his goal tally.
The 27-year-old has been a revelation for Wolves this season, netting 11 times in all competitions.
That's the most he's managed in a season since making the big move from Mexico to join Atletico Madrid in 2014.
And, while keen to continue a run of form that's seen him score four in four games, Jimenez won't change his unselfish ways.
Different strikers are happy when they score but you have to think about the team – the assist, movements which can give space for your team mates," he said.
"It's team work. You never have to quit.
"I'm very happy and trying to do the right thing. I want to keep going and doing the same things.
"I've scored more goals in one league this time than any other since I came to Europe – this is what I was looking for since I came here.
"Now I have the confidence of the team and the manager I know I have to keep going.
"I didn't have a target or numbers, because maybe I can score more! I want to keep doing my best for the team."
Jimenez has enjoyed a prolific partnership with Diogo Jota since the Portuguese forward came into form before Christmas.
The Mexican is keen for that to continue – and believes the lack of a language barrier has helped him this season.
"We see each other in training and in the matches we have a good job together," he added.
"I feel very comfortable with Diogo – and I think he is with me.
"I speak Portuguese too so that’s very important because I adapt very quickly in to the team. I can speak to anyone and it’s easy for me.
"It’s easier to communicate with each other, on the pitch we know where we want the ball, where we will move, so it’s important to know each other and know some languages.
"I have been in Europe for four years, it’s easier to make the jump from Spain and Portugal to here but since the first match here at Wolves I’ve done the good things with the team. I’ve shown some good skills and want to keep going and improving."
