The average weekly wage at Molineux is £33,800, the Sporting Intelligence survey states.

That places Wolves 14th highest in the Premier League, below Bournemouth and Brighton but ahead of the likes of Newcastle, Fulham, Huddersfield, Burnley and Cardiff.

Across Europe Wolves reportedly pay more than Lazio, Lyon, Monaco, Villarreal and Lille.

Wolves' wage bill has increased considerably this season after signing big-earners such as Rui Patricio and Joao Moutinho, while players from last season's received promotion bonuses and automatic pay rises.

The report's figures are sourced directly or indirectly from unions, player associations, players, agents, leagues or club sources.

It estimates that Wolves' annual average salary is £1,757,600, or £33,800 a week.

Barcelona top the global list with an estimated average weekly wage of £201,000 a week. Manchester United are said to be the biggest spenders in England at £125,666 a week.

The survey takes all sports into account including baseball and American football. In that list Wolves' wage bill is the 159th highest in world sport.
