Wolves boss Nuno coy on striker 'rumours' as Leo Bonatini could depart
Nuno Espirito Santo said potential Wolves moves for Tammy Abraham and Divock Origi are just ‘rumours’, while fellow striker Leo Bonatini could make an exit.
The Express and Star understands Bonatini will be allowed to leave once Wolves know they can get another striker in.
They want to sign Villa loan star Abraham on loan from parent club Chelsea and have not given up hope despite reports he is staying put at Villa.
Liverpool attacker Origi, who scored against Nuno’s side in the FA Cup on Monday, is another who has been on the club’s radar this campaign.
But Nuno, when asked about the Abraham situation, said: “I don’t have any understanding at all.
“I don’t speak about rumours. Our approach is simple – we do our homework, at home.
“When things happen, we announce them. Until then, it’s rumours.”
And on whether Origi is someone he is interested in, Nuno added: “It’s a rumour. It’s normal in the transfer window, all the clubs and all the players’ names. It’s normal.
“I think we should focus on what we have, and what we can control.
“What we can control is here at Compton, how we approach the competition.
"We don’t have to even think about it.
"It's always the same thing, that I say. The transfer window is open.
"For us to bring someone, it has to be something that can add something new to our squad.
"We are happy with our squad, so it is not easy to reinforce."
One Wolves striker who has departed is Paul Gladon.
The Dutchman, who cost £1million from Heracles Almelo in the summer of 2016, has had his contract cancelled by mutual consent.
He made just three appearances for Wolves and scored no goals.
