John Ruddy

He'll have probably been gutted to see Liverpool's name drawn out the hat, thinking it could be his last game of the season in January. Well, thanks to his stupendous save from Shaqiri's free kick, Ruddy and Wolves have at least one more cup game this season. Up there with Patricio's stop from Sterling's strike back in August for save of the season – and who would begrudge this consummate professional (and still a very important figure in the dressing room) his big moment, after months of frustration. 7/10

Ryan Bennett

Great in the air, a couple of iffy moments on the ball but overall he did just fine. 7/10

Conor Coady

Four clearances, more than any Wolves player, on what was a great night for Coady personally against his former club. A few nice crossfield passes in front of the watching Gareth Southgate. Not at his best, but did enough. 7/10

Willy Boly

Five interceptions was the most on the pitch. A bit haphazard at times and could have done better for Origi's goal. Some lovely moments bringing it out from the back as well though. 7/10

Jonny Castro Otto

Looked more comfortable going forward down the right flank but this was a fairly anonymous performance. One deflected shot in the first half and defensively he was solid enough. Vinagre must be pushing him pretty hard for a place in the first XI. 6/10

Ruben Neves

Like an expert sniper he much prefers shooting from range – that's now eight of nine Wolves goals to have come from outside the box (the other being a peno against Spurs). Since being dropped at Fulham he's responded in exactly the right way with a number of improved performances, culminating in his best display of the season here. More touches (67) than any Wolves player and his pass accuracy was a whopping 92 per cent. Did some important work defensively too. Ruben Neves is back. 9/10

Joao Moutinho

Produced the best dummy since Orville to release Jonny in the second half. Otherwise he was pretty quiet and doesn't seem to enjoy the '10' role (same story in the league game). Played a few wayward passes but his experience and 'game management' helped Wolves see this through. 7/10

Leander Dendoncker

Remember when everyone forgot who this guy was? It turns out £12m man Leander Dendoncker, who was in Belgium's 23 for the World Cup and has played in the Champions League, is good at playing football. A whole-hearted and committed performance (for the last 20 minutes he was sweating more than Richard Nixon's top lip) which, yes, was a little 'unorthodox' at times and, yes, Origi's goal goes through his legs, but considering this guy has barely played for six months he did very well. Adds height and strength to the midfield, can pick a pass and also sniff out danger (a couple of interceptions towards the end were vital). 8/10

Ruben Vinagre

Developing and maturing every time he plays. Got to improve his passing (67 pass accuracy here) but defensively he's far less naive than he used to be, and you can always rely on him to stretch the play and get to the byline. 7/10

Raul Jimenez

Is there anything this guy can't do? He scores goals, links play, sets up chances, launches counter attacks, is good in the air, clears corners and does great defensive work. Can he sort out Brexit and commission another series of Luther while he's at it? Continues to show his quality and class, week after week. Had plenty of time to think about his finish but he took it very, very, coolly and with the confidence of a striker at the top of his game. That £30m fee looks like a very reasonable deal. 8/10

Diogo Jota

Sprightly, tenacious, frisky and very lively. His quick thinking and intelligent movement (blocking off Milner) allowed Jimenez time to pick his spot for the opener. He links well with Jimenez and is a step above the other forwards on this form. Withdrawn on 52 minutes in a pre-planned change. He'll be raring to go at Man City. 8/10

Substitutes

Ivan Cavaleiro (for Jota, 52)

A bit disappointing. Occasionally offered a threat in behind but the game seemed to pass him by. 5/10

Matt Doherty (for Otto, 75)

A solid 15 minutes, kept things simple. 6/10

Helder Costa (for Jimenez, 83)

Didn't do much apart from being caught offside. N/A

Subs not used: Norris, Saiss, Gibbs-White, Traore.
