The 22-year-old attended Town’s New Year’s Day goalless draw with Fleetwood.

But manager Ricketts gave little away regarding the Ludlow goalkeeper’s future when asked after the game.

He said: “Harry lives up the road, is from the area. I speak to Harry, I have known Harry well for many years. He came to the game, I left him a couple of tickets, nothing more than that. That was all.

“Listen, Harry’s a good young goalkeeper. It’s not, I think, (what) we’re looking at the moment. I spoke to him, he said he was coming to the game, I said ‘yes, come along’.”

Burgoyne, who had a loan at AFC Telford United in the 2015/16 season, was sent on loan to Town’s League One rivals Plymouth last summer but broke his ankle in the early stages with the Pilgrims.

He returned to Wolves for treatment and the loan was officially terminated in December.

Burgoyne has since returned to fitness and has featured on a number of occasions for Wolves Under-23s.

The shot-stopper has also had loans at non-league Lowestoft and Corby. He played two League Two games for Barnet two seasons ago.

Winger Shaun Whalley, who picked up a hamstring injury in December after returning from a calf problem, was on the pitch for the half-time draw and suggested that he could return to fitness next week.

“He’s progressing,” said boss Ricketts on his talented winger. “Shaun tells me he’s fit two days after he got injured, take that one with a pinch of salt!

“Shaun is a player with really good quality but what we need to do is make sure that when he comes back he stays fit.

“Maybe it’s a question it takes a little bit longer than he would like. But when he’s back, he’s back.”
