Wolves boss Nuno: Saiss and Shelvey not an issue

Nuno Espirito Santo says he expects there to be no issues between Romain Saiss and Jonjo Shelvey if the pair meet again on Sunday.

Shelvey was banned for five games after the FA found him guilty of racially abusing Saiss during Wolves' 2-0 win at Newcastle in 2016.

The Newcastle midfielder has always maintained his innocence despite not appealing the ban, while boss Rafa Benitez sparked further anger when he later called for the FA to investigate Wolves fans for chants aimed at Shelvey.

Shelvey also later claimed he'd learned nothing from the saga.

However Nuno said: "It's two years ago, I wasn't here.

"The past is past, it's over, they're professional and both players in my view must forget and go for the game.

"I think both players involved, for sure it's in the past, forget about it.

"I'm totally convinced there's no need to even think about it.

"You cannot stick to things that happened in the past, that will distract you.

"That cannot help you. Put it in the past and focus on the present, this is what I expect from all my players.

"It's the past, over, let's not speak about it."
