Three defeats won’t change Wolves' way – Nuno

Wolves boss Nuno Espirito Santo has vowed to never compromise on his principles despite a run of three successive losses.

Nuno’s charges came out on the wrong end of a dramatic five-goal encounter against Spurs on Saturday.

Mauricio Pochettino’s men exploited gaps in his favoured 3-4-3 system to lead 3-0 on the hour, before Wolves had both Ruben Neves and Raul Jimenez score penalties as they almost salvaged something.

When asked if they may have to change their style of play and adopt a more conservative approach to get back on track in the Premier League, Nuno said: “I will not, ever. I will not do it.

“We have a how and this is the most important thing we have – how we do things.

“How we do it, it’s our way, our style, our ideas, with our principles, with our mistakes that we have to correct.

“We will keep on moving in the way since day one – when we came here.”

Wolves, at 2-0 down, were denied what should have been a goal as Matt Doherty was incorrectly deemed offside as he headed the ball to Jimenez to finish.

Nuno, who stated he was ready for video assistant referee technology to be introduced following last weekend’s 1-0 defeat at Brighton where they had a penalty appeal for handball ignored, says it was an obvious error – but will not dwell on it.

"I saw it. I think everybody saw it. It was an incorrect decision,” he said.

“It’s a tough job, we know, but everybody saw it. That goal could change everything, you don’t know, but we have to move on.

“We cannot hold on to that. More important was the spirit of the fans, who, for sure, knew the goal was correct and kept believing and pushing the team, and the spirit of the boys.

“They worked so hard and still believed, being 3-0 down at home, that they could change things.”

One thing Nuno was pleased about was seeing Wolves get back to scoring ways after the blanks against Brighton and Watford.

“We achieved one, two and in the last 10 minutes, anything can happen,” he added.

“We were not rewarded with a point, but we go with our heads high.”
