Wolves will sorely miss Benik Afobe if he signs for Stoke City, club legend Steve Bull believes.

Afobe, 25, has been strongly linked with a shock £12 million move to the Potters just days after signing for Wolves in a £10m deal.

He scored six goals in 16 appearances in his loan spell from Bournemouth last season, on his return to Molineux. And Bully believes Afobe would be Wolves’s ‘wild card’ in the Premier League and guarantee them goals.

Bull, 53, who scored more than 300 goals for Wolves, said: “We will have to wait and see if he is a Wolves player 100 per cent but I think they will miss his goals in the Premier League.

“I think they need a wild card who can come off the bench and score goals and Afobe offers that.

“Wolves need to get a good striker in his place but it won’t be long before they start signing players.

“Signings will be hard to make with the World Cup getting under way but I don’t think it will be hard for Wolves.”

Afobe signed on the dotted line last Friday but now could make an immediate switch to the bet365 Stadium and link up with new Potters boss Gary Rowett.

The Express & Star understands talks are taking place.

Afobe first joined for Wolves in 2015/16 from Arsenal where he scored 22 goals in 46 appearances that season.

And he returned to Wolves last season, helping them on their way to the Premier League.
