Wolves 0 Nottingham Forest 2 – player ratings
Wolves correspondent Tim Spiers rates the players after a first league defeat in three months.
John Ruddy
Wrong-footed by a deflection for the first goal, no chance for the second. Made a couple of regulation saves in the second half. 6/10
Ryan Bennett
Again, couldn't point the finger at him for either goal but in a recurring theme he wasn't great in possession. 6/10
Conor Coady
Dropped below his usual standards. He's made the sweeper position look easy this season but here he lacked composure at times and gave the ball away too often. 6/10
Willy Boly
Probably the pick of the back three but he still got the basics wrong when playing a couple of simple passes straight out of play. 6/10
Matt Doherty
Wednesday night's exertions on a boggy Swansea pitch looked to have an impact. Lacked the vitality that the wing back role requires and his crosses were poor. 5/10
Romain Saiss
Needed to be closer to Osborn for Forest's second goal. Apart from his haircut he was barely noticeable and off the pace. 5/10
Ruben Neves
The only guy playing in the first half. Consistently found Doherty with a series of pinpoint passes played with his usual impeccable technique. 7/10
Barry Douglas
In a similar story to Doherty he was leggy and offered nothing going forward. 5/10
Ivan Cavaleiro
No lack of effort on Cavaleiro's part. He looked to make things happen, looked to take his man on, looked to conjure something special. But it wasn't his day. 6/10
Leo Bonatini
Played too deep and was rarely in a goalscoring position. On a couple of occasions the ball drifted across the six yard box but he was nowhere to be seen. Not scored for 10 games now. 5/10
Diogo Jota
Produced some early brilliance when he played a one-two with Bonatini, cut inside and curled inches wide. Remarkably that was pretty much Wolves' last decent effort at goal. 5/10
Substitutes
Morgan Gibbs-White (for Doherty, 45)
Injected positivity and some initiative, looking to burst forward from midfield. Gibbs-White has gumption and a fantastic attitude to playing the game. His style isn't a natural fit in Nuno's team but he offers something different from the bench and could see plenty of game time in the coming weeks on this display. 7/10
Helder Costa (for Douglas, 45)
Has been hit and miss in recent weeks...definitely a miss here. Worked his way into good positions on both flanks time and again, but his end product was really poor. Crosses either went into the stands or hit the first man. To be fair he kept going and never shied from wanting the ball. 5/10
Rafa Mir (for Neves, 78)
Nothing of note from Mir. 5/10
Subs not used: Norris, Batth, Miranda, N'Diaye.
