The former Middlesbrough boss oversaw a 1-0 defeat to Villa last week and Liam Keen spoke to the Nottingham Post’s Forest correspondent Paul Taylor to find out what Wolves can expect when the Tricky Trees arrive in the West Midlands.

What is Forest’s recent form like?

It’s hard to judge at the moment with Karanka so new in the job, he’s only had one game and that was a loss against a very good Aston Villa side that stopped us playing.

There was a bit of a dip in form that led to Warburton’s sacking but then there has been a slight revival under caretaker management, so it’s hard to judge how well they’ll play under Karanka.

How has Karanka got on so far?

He’s only had one game so far so there isn’t much to say, the players seem excited to work with him so we will have to see how it goes.

What star players are there to look out for?

Again it’s difficult to say as the club is undergoing a lot of changes at the moment.

With Karanka’s style of play, passing from the back, being well organised and prepared and a lot of defensive work, it’s hard to analyse what players will shine in the team.

How will Forest prepare for their trip to Molineux?

They’ll aim to keep possession and be disciplined.

It won’t be as gung-ho as Warburton’s side were, but they won’t put nine men behind the ball like a lot of teams have at Molineux. They’ll want to keep possession and make chances, but stay organised at the back and make it difficult for Wolves.

What is the feeling around the fans like at the moment?

They’re optimistic and upbeat. There was some surprise at how soon Warburton left, but a lot of fans also thought it was time.

They’re positive and hopeful that Karanka’s experience will come good, but it’ll be a different style.

What expectations are there for the season?

Of course, they want to aim for the top six, but there’s no expectation of it, just a slither of hope.

It’s an uphill task and hard to achieve, but the aim is not to slide down any further towards the relegation zone and have a repeat of last year where they only just survived.

Will Forest come to rectify the reverse fixture?

I don’t think they will be looking for retribution, but Karanka has made it clear he wants to trim the squad so there’s added motivation that a lot of the players want to make sure it isn’t them being shipped out.
