Derby 3 Wolves 1 - player ratings
Wolves correspondent Tim Spiers rates the players after a miserable end-of-season defeat to Derby.
Harry Burgoyne
A couple of smart saves to help keep the score down. Got nowhere near a corner that led to Edwards having to clear one off the line but otherwise he couldn't be faulted, or blamed for any of the goals. 6/10
Conor Coady
Roasted by Johnny Russell for Derby's second goal and he generally endured a torrid time against the impressive Derby winger. 3/10
Mike Williamson
David Nugent ghosted in behind him for the opener. Positioning was poor at times. Offered no protection by either the full-backs or the midfielders in front of him though. 5/10
Kortney Hause
Similar to Williamson. No obvious errors or howlers apart from a couple of sloppy passes but he couldn't stem the tide of Derby attacks in that awful first half. 5/10
George Saville
Just couldn't cope with Tom Ince who had it all his own way in the first period. It feels harsh to criticise because, put simply, he's not a left back. But this was an afternoon to forget. 3/10
Lee Evans
Guilty of ball watching at times and he failed to get a grip on midfield. Did improve after the break and seemed to enjoy getting forward when he could. But overall he didn't impress. 4/10
Romain Saiss
Gave the ball away in the build-up to the opening goal and criminally let Johnson run into the box unmarked for the second while Saiss followed the ball instead. At times he looks a class act but on days like this you doubt whether he has the temperament or the consistency to be an effective Championship performer. 3/10
Ben Marshall
Showed composure for his goal - his second for the club - and had a few bright moments down the right flank in the first half. Spent the second half defending before he was substituted. 6/10
David Edwards
Got through a tremendous workload, with Derby seeing plenty of the ball in the second half in particular. Didn't win enough tackles though and his passing was hit-and-miss. Won the flick-on that led to Marshall's goal and cleared off the line to prevent a goal at the other end. Tried in vain to lift his team mates. 6/10
Ivan Cavaleiro
His selfish sending off was sheer stupidity. Had got involved in a skirmish before his red card and Edwards had a word with him, but he didn't listen and duly butted Johnson (who to be fair didn't over-react) to leave his team mates fighting a losing battle for the next hour. Has been accused of not being a team player this season. An incident like this only adds to that theory. 0/10
Nouha Dicko
His best performance of the season. Looked sharp and inventive, held the ball up, linked well with his team mates and created chances for himself. Unlucky not to score. And his persistence and awareness set up Marshall's goal. In the second half he was left isolated with Wolves defending deep but he ran his heart out. Back to the Dicko of old. 8/10
Substitutes
Bright Enobakhare (for Marshall, 73)
His first appearance since February 14 and there were a couple of promising moments. Embarked on one mazy run that was so bedazzling the linesman couldn't keep up with play and fell over. 6/10
Jon Dadi Bodvarsson (for Dicko, 78)
No impact in his 12 minutes. 5/10
Subs not used: Ruddy, Batth, Silvio, Mason, Graham.
