Verdict: Fans wishing the season away after Wolves defeat

Our fans can't wait for the season to end after Wolves draw another blank at home and lose to Huddersfield.

What's your verdict on the match? Much as it tempted me to repeat Saturday's 'zzzzzzzzzz' effort, I think Mr Spiers wouldn't be very happy with another lacklustre effort. Speaking of lacklustre efforts...

I'd love to say this followed Saturday in being an 'on the beach' performances now that we're safe but, in all honesty, have either of these two games been any different to much of what's gone on in most of the other 20 home performances we've produced this season?

@iAmReeg's father summed up our home form this season with his half-time quip that we won't need stewards at Molineux next season, we'll need Samaritans.

Who played well - and who didn't impress? Much like Saturday it would be difficult to say anyone underperformed because they were all at a level we've become used to seeing in home games all year.

Batth hoofed it a lot, Bodvarsson generally lost the first challenge, the whole midfield was generally nowhere near the second ball, Edwards was generally everywhere except next to Price where we needed him to keep control in midfield, Weimann ran a lot without looking dangerous, and Marshall played a few nice balls to switch the play but not much else.

The mediocrity was broken somewhat by a couple of bursts of energy in the second half from Morgan Gibbs-White and then from Jordan Graham on his long-awaited return to first team action, even if he did seem to be trying to do too much to impress his new (old) manager.

Peter Abbott (London Wolves)

What's your verdict on the match?

Plenty of team changes but pretty much the same formation. It was a tough game against a Huddersfield team who quickly closed us down and for whom Isaiah Brown ran the show. But, certainly heaps better than Saturday - far more watchable.

Who played well - and who didn't impress? There was another late change in goal with Lonergan replaced by Burgoyne. I noticed Harry wasn't kicking out like Carl and Andy...apart from the goal which he seemed to see late, he did okay.

A surprise call up for Silvio and he was good, not hiding and giving good value for his call up. What did I miss in him when he played earlier in the season?

Iorfa was also selected and again looked solid... ish, generally keeping Van La Parra at bay. The Stearman and Batth combo worked well against Wells.

Price, Marshall and Gibbs-White midfield were okay but nothing spectacular. I expected more from Marshall considering the amount of space he had and again pleased to give credit to Morgan in a rare start.

Bodvarsson as ever, chased lost causes until half time, substitute Mason didn't really figure in the second half. And where was Weimann first half? Much better as a number nine.

Man of the match was probably Edwards, good energy after a couple of quiet weeks, some misplaced passes but three chances on goal including hitting the post.

And welcome back to substitute Jordan Graham, returning from his long term injury. No impact on the game though, a few crosses but all falling short of requirements, guess it's gonna take time.

Russ Evers (Hatherton Wolves)

What's your verdict on the match? A more uptempo showing than Saturday but that wasn't difficult to achieve!

Far too many changes where rusty players didn't do themselves or the team justice.

Many will be better for the run out but it's way too late for this season.

Who played well - and who didn't impress? Stearman looks lost without Williamson alongside him and the return of Price didn't work either.

Edwards to his credit had our two best chances but could and should have done better each time whilst poor old Bodvarsson had to contend with scraps and the occasional throat high long ball with no back up.

Both Gibbs-White and Marshall started brightly but faded and the only spark of real interest was the reintroduction of the much missed Jordan Graham and to a lesser extent Joe Mason.

What's your verdict on the match? I can't wait for this season to end. It's like a messy divorce when both parties can see what the issue is, yet nobody can do anything about it.

Another Molineux horror show to add to the long list of home capitulations this season. If you don't go away, I can see why you might be calling for Lambert's head, it really is that bad.

The brutal truth is we need shot of 80 per cent of the squad. The more brutal truth is we have Kevin Thelwell overseeing operations, the man who agreed that Gladon would be a good prospect up front. All we've done with the Netherlands 'ace' is make him a contender to be the next Masterchef judge when the series re-starts next year.

Albert Einstein once said insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. Okay Paul, you've got three months before this become your epitaph.

Let's start with the midfield. Edwards can't be the first name on the team sheet next season, he just can't. Get Fosun to bung him £250,000 for his new charity and consign him to doing community work, a win-win situation.

Just look at Mooy for Huddersfield, a proper midfielder and someone we desperately need. Like many CMs to come to Molineux, he ran the show without breaking sweat, whilst our midfield fulcrum (including Price) laboured, gave the ball away and genuinely looked like they should be playing on a Sunday morning.

Move forward and we literally have no strike force. Bodvarsson and his clap should be sent back to Iceland...I'd rather have Kerry Katona leading the line, she might actually win a header.

Dicko, as I've said previously, should be given pre-season to see if he can be the player he once was, but we shouldn't be holding out for this to happen. It should be seen as a we must invest in two strikers that can actually do what strikers should do...put the ball in the net.

Last night also saw the return of Iorfa. Only Wolves and our coaching team can take one of England's finest young defensive prospects and turn him into a carthorse in 18 months, it really is some achievement but we've managed it.

And then we have Silvio, who, if his name was Smith instead of something more exotic, would never have the same amount of affection from the fans. He did get better second half admittedly, but for the first 45 it looked like we'd pulled the work experience boy in from Nandos to fill the left-back role.

I could go on, but most of it has been said before.

Lambert, who I still hope will work out okay, has pre-season to somehow turn this mess around.

He needs to be brutal, he needs to rip out the dross and mediocrity and he needs to give Thelwell the wrong mobile number.

Who played well - and who didn't impress? This question gets harder by the week…

Morgan Gibbs-White had his best 15 minutes in a Wolves shirt at the start of the second half, only for Lambert to incredibly haul him off.

What's your verdict on the match? This was marginally better than Saturday's shocker, but apart from a 10 minute spell after the introduction of Graham, it was dismal.

Just want the season to finish now, so we can concentrate on cricket!

Either the squad is not good enough, or Lambert is not good enough. Maybe it's both? We can't score at home and it is impossible to detect either the formation or game plan once the game has started.

Huddersfield were better all over the pitch - quicker, sharper, more movement. The goal had been coming. When it did, it was a wonder strike from 25 yards. Game over after 30 minutes.

Interesting to see the two teams have scored and let in a similar amount of goals this season. Huddersfield have amassed 26 more points and are in the playoffs. I think for most Wolves fans this was the minimum expectation, last July.

Molineux was very quiet last night. Let's be honest. This team have bored us to sleep.

Who played well - and who didn't impress? With such a nondescript team performance it is difficult to make a case for any individual, either good or bad. Those that came in did little to justify a place.

Iorfa is a shadow of his former self. Mason had very little impact. Silvio has no positional awareness. Price was eager to get the ball, but distribution was poor.

Edwards did more in their box than in midfield and was unlucky when hitting the post. Bodvarsson will end his Wolves career without scoring a goal at Molineux. Pathetic really.

What's your verdict on the match? The starting line up seemed interesting. The game and certain performances however, were not. If this was an opportunity for the fringe players to show they are deserving of being here next season, then I'm afraid most of them failed.

It was a poor team performance with very little to inspire confidence for next season. Morgan Gibbs-White is a talent, but he looked lost with a midfield partner who did little to help him. We know the under-23s offer a lot of talent that can be used, but they need decent and experienced heads next to them.

Huddersfield didn't really get into gear either but I'm not sure they needed to. A poor goal which by Burgoyne's own admission he should have done better with. On the few occasions we did try getting forward, we lacked that final class up front. I feel for Bodvarsson, but I cannot see him scoring.

Mason will be rusty from being out injured and I'm not sure Dicko is the same player without Afobe and Sako. Hard to see where goals will come from in this team.

Graham being reintroduced was the only highlight for me. For the small part he played, he did try and get forward to create. I'm looking forward to seeing him back to full sharpness. A shame it seems we may never see him and Costa on opposing wings, as I think they would cause defences some issues.

This is a plea to Lambert. Please, please clear the deadwood in the summer. It is clear to anyone who has regularly watched games this season that we have certain areas to improve upon. We all know what they are. We need to stop allowing players to retain their place purely based on loyalty. If 9/12 of those players are there next season, along with others, then I'm afraid it may also be you heading for the door.

I find it hard to believe there actually was 17,500 there last night. It felt more like a morgue. Comparative to our home performances this season, I feel.

But the fans need something to get behind. We need that next season please Paul.

Our chat with Paul Lambert when he started was very insightful and filled me with confidence. It's interesting to think how that same meeting may have gone should it have taken place at this point of the season. Patience is a virtue, but it has an expiry.

Who played well - and who didn't impress? Silvio did well in the second half given the length of time he has been out. Graham and Marshall were our biggest threats going forward and tried to create. A shame Edwards couldn't finish his opportunities.

A lot of the fringe players blew their chance for me. Price had an awful game, he gave the ball away far too often, as did Edwards. Iorfa's confidence is shot. He just isn't the same player now. Such a shame that such promising talent has been wasted. Bodvarsson isn't the striker we need and Weimann needs to either play up front or not at all - he's no winger.

At the moment we have no style, no starting XI that can consistently perform well together, no partnerships on the field and we go to too many games thinking 'we won't score'. Struggling to find a positive.
