Winger Rajiv van La Parra was forced to hastily delete a social media post about his wages after being branded 'ignorant' and 'immature' by furious Wolves fans.

The Wolves winger enraged supporters when he changed his Instagram biography to read: "One week they love you. Next week they hate you. Both weeks I got paid."

The Dutchman has come under fire for inconsistent performances in recent weeks and supporters didn't take kindly to his comment, which was deleted soon afterwards.

They took to Twitter to express their disgust. Gaz Moore said: "I'd look happy if I picked up his wage for zero effort. Players like this don't deserve to wear the shirt."

Alex Dovery said: "I'd terminate his contract and let him know via text saying 'one week you played for Wolves, next week you were terminated'."

Twitter user Kate called for van La Parra to be disciplined by the club and said: "It's everything I hate about the modern game. Disgusting. Total disrespect. The club should penalise him for this."

Ben Golding said: "Shame when there's players like Razak Boukari who would give anything to play, then you have immature idiots like this who don't deserve to."

Rich Martino added: "Jamie O Hara was never forgiven for his money reference. Van La Parra been backed by the fans despite lack of quality. Not anymore."

And Sam said: "The definition of an ignorant comment."

Initial discussions have recently taken place over van La Parra's contract, which runs until the end of next season, although that is common practice at Wolves for players whose deals are close to expiring.

The winger loaned to Brighton late last year and impressed, scoring two goals in six appearances. The 24-year-old has made 56 appearances for Wolves since joining from Heerenveen in 2014, scoring twice.
