Josh Coburn put Boro ahead in the first half, as Albion struggled to find fluency in attack, but Grady Diangana's fantastic finish ensured the Baggies would not lose on home turf.
However, Albion ultimately struggled to create chances in a game which was not the best watch for supporters.
