The Brazilian appeared to elbow Potters midfielder Joe Allen towards the end of the first half during Monday's defeat.

Both players were spoken to by referee Tim Robinson in the aftermath, but no punishment was given, and the FA have now taken action.

Albion have accepted the charge, meaning Pereira will now miss the next three matches – the FA Cup tie at West Ham and league fixtures against Cardiff and Luton.

An FA spokesperson said: "It is alleged that the midfielder’s behaviour during the 35th minute of the EFL Championship fixture against Stoke City FC on Monday January 20, which was not seen by the match officials but caught on video, constitutes violent conduct."
