Albion have added to their attacking options by snapping up promising French striker Cheikh Diaby.

The 19-year-old came through the youth ranks at the acclaimed Le Havre academy but left the club in the summer after his contract expired.

Diaby reached an agreement to sign for Valencia during the summer but that deal fell through when the Spanish giants changed their manager.

And that led to him spending a week on trial with Albion where he went on to impress head coach Slaven Bilic.

Diaby has signed a deal until the end of the season with the Baggies that includes the option of an extra year.

The pacey frontman will initially join up with the club's under-23s.

Sporting & Technical Director Luke Dowling said: "We have taken an opportunity to give a promising young striker the chance to develop with us.

"We will see what the future will bring."
