Boro announced this morning that the 61-year-old's contract, which was up this summer, would not be extended and he was leaving the club.

Pulis was appointed in December 2017 shortly after being sacked by the Baggies, and lost to Aston Villa in the play-off semi-finals last year.

But the Welshman failed to finish in the top six this year, and there was fan unrest over his style of play which delivered just 49 goals from 46 league games.

Boro chairman Steve Gibson said:"I'd like to thank Tony for his hard work and commitment over the past 18 months. He has been a joy to work with and a complete gentleman."
