The 29-year-old, who scored a smart header in the 2-0 win over Villa on Saturday, was forced off at half-time through a recurring injury.

But it's hoped he could be available for the game at Loftus Road tomorrow and now faces a late fitness test.

Chris Brunt could also return to the squad after missing the last three games with a calf strain.

Matt Phillips and James Morrison are back in training and outside bets for a place on the bench.

Kyle Edwards could provide another attacking option, having returned from an injury which ruled him out of the FA Cup games against Brighton.

Fellow youngster Jonathan Leko remains unavailable after his ankle injury proved more troublesome than initially thought, although he is running on grass again.

Dwight Gayle serves the second match of his two-game ban for diving.
