Mike Scott’s under-18 side thrashed Lincoln City’s academy boys 5-1 in the third round of the competition.

Jamie Soule and Finn Azaz each netted twice, with England under-17 international Morgan Rogers adding another.

Soule opened the scoring in the fourth minute, latching on to a square ball from Rogers, but the match stayed 1-0 until half-time.

However, Albion were forced into a chance 14 minutes in, when Zak Delaney replaced the injured Tom Sharp in defence.

The young Baggies couldn’t find a second until the 57th minute, when Azaz forced the ball in at the back post.

And that opened the floodgates at The Hawthorns.

Rayhaan Tulloch, another England youth international, burst forward and played in Soule for his second and Albion’s third in the 65th minute.

But four minutes later and the Imps had pulled one back through Jordan Adebayo-Smith.

It wasn’t long until Albion had restored their three-goal lead though, thanks to a superb solo run from Rogers that he finished off himself.

Ten minutes from time the Baggies were awarded a penalty, which Azaz despatched.

The Baggies already know they will face Queens Park Rangers in the fourth round.

Albion have won the FA Youth Cup once, in 1978, and have been runners-up twice, in 1955 and 1969.
