The Leicester loanee will not feature in friendlies against Italy on Thursday and Denmark next Tuesday, as the Young Lions begin their Euro 2019 preparations.

However, the Baggies are expecting Barnes to be available for their next game against Ipswich Town on Friday, November 23.

Barnes has withdrawn alongside Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Dael Fry and Josh Onomah.

Barnes is battling a foot problem, while Crystal Palace defender Wan-Bissaka has a shoulder injury.

Onomah, on loan at Sheffield Wednesday from Tottenham, has a knee injury while Middlesbrough defender Fry is also missing.

Bristol City’s Lloyd Kelly has been promoted from the Under-20s.

Before the quartet’s withdrawal, boss Aidy Boothroyd said: “We’ve now got two games where we can give everyone a look at what it is we’re trying to do for the summer.

“It’s nice to have Demarai (Gray) back with us because he’s done really well and the competition for places is fantastic now.

“We had Reiss (Nelson) joining us for the first time last month and Harvey Barnes has done a really good job too so I’m really pleased that we’ve got two players who have come up and shown us they mean business.

“It’s great for the group because the standard is so high that it improves our training and everything else and you need that when you want to be successful – you need everybody fighting for a place.”
