Pearce, a Premier League winner with Blackburn, has joined the Baggies from Brighton and will work alongside the head coach as well as technical director Luke Dowling.

And Moore – who experienced his first pre-season as a manager in the summer – says it’s crucial there is a strong team of people working to sign the right players.

“As a head coach it was a tough summer in terms of identifying personnel,” he said.

“You don’t just bring players in willy nilly, there’s a process to seek and find as much information as you can on the player.

“The big thing for me and the one major eye-opener was dealing with the agents and advisers of players.

“The players they want to push towards you, it’s incredible.

“You just can’t manage the load so it’s great I can push them on to those two fellas.

“Word will get out now that we have those two on board.

“All three of us will come into agreement, along with the owners of the football club, to identify key personnel we feel are right to bring in.

“WBA have been renowned over the years for getting astute players in who have done well for the club.

“It’s really key, the recruitment of players.

“But we only want ones that improve the squad, we don’t want like for like.

“We want to improve the squad and move it forward.”

Moore says he, Pearce and Dowling are now busy putting together a list of players they will target in the January window.

“It starts around about now for January,” he continued.

“We need to move that on so it’s good to have both men in.

“For the short-term we are looking at but we are also looking long-term towards the summer.

“Initially we’ll be looking at January and spotting personnel out there that can enhance us a team and the club as a whole.

“It’s getting down to work and seeing how the next few weeks and months go.”
